History of the company

Belle Époque Film was founded in 1970 by Tiziano Biasioli who started as a photographer of motor rallies and circuit races.

He quickly made a name for himself on account of the high quality of his photography and his profound involvement in his work.

In 1972 he began to follow international competitions as well, publishing in the most important periodicals of the field (Autosprint, Quattroruote), and selling his publicity photos to the most prestigious among Italian teams such as Fiat e Lancia.

Eventually his collaboration was extended to foreign periodicals (Sport Auto, Autohebdo, etc.) as well and to foreign car and accessories makers (Michelin, Opel, Ford, etc.)

In 1977 he acquired his first 16 mm camera and began to photograph rallies of the world championship.

In October 1977 he first collaborated with the Antenna Nord TV program "Grand Prix", the first car racing program by an Italian private TV station.

This collaboration with "Grand Prix" (which eventually was broadcast by Italia 1) lasted for 8 years and continued later with the Editoriale Domus (Quattroruote) Auto Italiana Program.

Up to 25 documentaries were produced in one year and three moviolas were available for the editing.

From 1977 to 1992 (when it withdrew from the races) Belle Époque Film realised the films of each race of the complete season for the most prestigious of the rally teams, the Fiat-Lancia.

The video cassettes were duplicated and broadcast by all the world TV station in three languages.

At the same time other sport were being followed: golf, offshore sailing, sailing, etc., and a collaboration was initiated with TVE, the national Spanish TV.

From the mid 80s Belle Époque Film extended its activity beyond sport to produce industrial, commercial and tourist films characterised by the dynamism and imagination derived from the experience of shooting the sport events.

The shooting are typically cinematic with constantly new and subjective frames, and details which permit to "enter into the subject" and keep constantly alive the viewer’s attention.

In 1985 it entered the world of Home Video by producing its first videocassette, "Videorally" which for years afterwards were distributed throughout Italy by Domovideo.

At present its home video catalogue includes 125 titles divided in 7 sections:

VIDEORALLY the first rally revue in videocassette; born in 1985

GOLF VIDEO presents the most important "open" of Italian golf

VIDEO SCI dedicated to the great events of alpine and northern skiing

VIDEO BIKE for the lovers of cycling, mountain and cross country biking

LOCOVIDEO devoted to the lovers of steam railways

KAYAK IN VIDEO with the great events on the Italian rapids

SPORT IN VIDEO for the lovers of marathons

In 1990 it realised the most important film ever produced by Fiat-Lancia, whose total cost was in current currency in 400.000 ECU.

For shooting in Kenya a helicopter was used which was taken apart and packed inside a "Jumbo" jet and flown to Africa from Germany. In Africa it was reassembled and with the help of three trucks carrying the fuel the most spectacular images were shot from that wonderful race.

In 1995 it made contacts with the European Union and was awarded the Action Plan 16:9 contribution for the realisation of 8 documentaries in the new TV format.

Their titles are as follows:

The first 7 films enjoyed a remarkable success and allowed Belle Époque Film to enter a tourism circuit of great interest. The "home video" versions of these films was also made.

As for TV co-operation Belle Époque Film has contributed in 1997 to the TV programs Sprint of Rete A and Tuttomontagna of Tele+2; in 1998 and 1999 it has collaborated with Sprint which is broadcast by Italia 9 Network.
